HPP members believe that the family unit plays an important role in meeting the needs of children. Each family shares in the planning and operation of the school. The school is governed by a Board of Directors that consists of an elected Executive Committee and appointed chairpersons.

All families hold either a support job or a position on the Board, assist with fundraising, parent teach in the classroom, and assist with facility maintenance. In addition, parents are encouraged to take advantage of continuing parent education sessions during General Membership meetings that are held throughout the school year.

The effort of parents and their direct involvement in their child's education makes HPP a unique preschool experience.

When parents enter their child in a cooperative preschool, they come into an amazingly interesting field of adult education. One year of membership can result in rich new understanding, wide learning, new friendships, and best of all, knowing that your child is learning through cooperative work and play.
