When children play they explore their own ideas and concepts, learning what no one else can teach them. At HPP, opportunities abound for each child to learn from hands-on experience in a carefully planned learning environment.

Healthy individual identities, positive self-esteem and a sense of community grow under the guidance of a qualified teacher. Encouraged to participate in the developmentally appropriate and anti-bias curriculum, children learn to respect and accept their own race, culture, gender, and physical as well as mental abilities.

At HPP, three-, four-, and five-year-old children attend classes together so each may benefit from this unique learning enviroment. In mixed age settings there is less competition and more collaboration. Less skilled children learn classroom routines, how to enter a group, and how to solve differences of opinion. They are introduced to the next level in learning by observing more experienced children. Later, they are able to be the role models and leaders for younger children.
