Penny Berrien has been involved with HPP since 1980. She has actively participated as a parent and has served in many positions on the Board of Directors. Penny is a former kindergarten teacher for Portland Public Schools and began teaching at HPP in 1991.

Penny's educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and a Master of Arts in Teaching. She believes in lifelong learning and continues to take early childhood classes. Penny is active in associations for early childhood educators such as Parent Child Preschools of Oregon (PCPO) and Oregon Association for the Education of Young Children (OAEYC)

She truly values the daily insights that she gains from the parents and children at HPP. Penny's warmth, genuine enthusiasm, and true professionalism help HPP maintain its standard of excellence and commitment to early childhood development.

HPP is a member of Parent Child Preschools of Oregon (PCPO) and Parent Cooperative Preschools International (PCPI). Both organizations foster education programs for parents and children learning together.
